Download your Canva design as PNG and PDF

Export the same page as PNG and digital PDF. Open both files and compare them before sharing.

Written steps

  1. Step 1

    Select the finished invitation page. Open File > Download and wait for the download panel to appear.

  2. Step 2

    Open File type and choose PNG. For this 1920 by 1080 design, Size 1 exports 1920 by 1080 pixels. Under Select pages, choose This page (1). Click Download and wait for Completed.

  3. Step 3

    Open File > Download again. Choose PDF in File type. Keep the Digital preset for the screen-reading example. Check This page (1), then download. Agree print-specific requirements with your printer if you are preparing a professional print file.

  4. Step 4

    Open the actual saved PNG and PDF. Check the heading, date, time, place, explanation, and illustration. Confirm that the PDF has the intended page count and that nothing important is missing or cut off.

  5. Step 5

    Give the files recognizable names. Keep the editable Canva design so you can revise and export new copies later.

When your design is finished, you can download it as a file. In this lesson we will save the invitation as an image and as a PDF. An image is easy to insert into a message. A PDF is useful when someone needs to open or print a document. Open File at the top left. Choose Download. Wait for the download panel to open. Open File type and select PNG. You can see the image dimensions here. We will keep the normal size. Under Select pages, choose This page, so only our finished invitation is included. Click Download and wait until Canva shows Completed. Now we will also download a PDF. Open File and choose Download again. Wait for the download panel to open. Open File type and select PDF. Digital suits this document, which will be read on screen. Check that This page is selected again. Click Download. If you need professional printing instead, agree the format and requirements with your printer. Open the file you just downloaded. Here is the finished invitation. Check that the heading, date, time, and explanation are included, and that nothing has been cut off. Save the file with a name you can find again. Try downloading your design in both formats and open both files before passing them on.
