Written steps
Step 1
Make a copy of your own 16:9 invitation using File > Make a copy. Keep the original. In the copy, retain one invitation page and duplicate it twice. Remove the extra bottom paragraph from the second and third pages, leaving the heading, date/time text and decorative icon.
Step 2
Choose File > Page view > Thumbnails if the page thumbnails are not visible. Open page 2. Double-click the heading and replace it with Today's plan. Press Escape.
Step 3
On page 2, double-click the date/time text and replace it with three lines: Plant herbs; Make signs; Take a coffee break. Use Enter between the lines, then Escape to finish.
Step 4
Open page 3. Change the heading to Join us. Replace its date/time text with three lines: Meet at 10 am in the garden; Bring gloves and water; We finish at 1 pm.
Step 5
Check that all text fits without crowding the icon or page edges. Shorten long sentences before shrinking the type. Keep the font, heading position, colors and spacing consistent.
Step 6
Open Grid view. Check the sequence: invitation, activities, joining instructions. Read the invitation date and time and make sure the final slide agrees. Reopen each slide to check it at a readable size.

A short presentation needs a clear beginning, useful information, and a next step. Here are three slides for our community garden day. The invitation introduces the event, the second slide explains the activities, and the final slide tells people how to join. We will edit a prepared copy of our own invitation. We have copied the invitation into three pages and removed the extra paragraph from pages two and three. Open page two in the thumbnails below. Double-click its heading. Replace the heading with Today's plan. Press Escape to finish editing. Keep the same font and color so the slides belong together. Double-click the date and time text on page two. Replace it with three short lines: Plant herbs, Make signs, and Take a coffee break. Press Escape. Each line names one activity. Save the details for what you say aloud, rather than filling the slide with a long paragraph. Open page three in the thumbnails. Double-click the heading. Replace it with Join us. Press Escape. A useful final slide gives the audience a clear next step. The heading stays in the same position and uses the same style as the previous slides. Double-click the date and time text on page three. Replace it with three lines: Meet at ten am in the garden, Bring gloves and water, and We finish at one pm. Press Escape. Check that every line fits, with clear space around it. Shorten a long sentence before making the text smaller. Open Grid view to review the sequence. Check the invitation first, the activity plan second, and the joining instructions third. Read every slide and check the date and time. Keep headings, colors and spacing consistent. Now make a three-slide presentation for your own event, with one main purpose on each slide.
