We will start with a blank design that we can use in the next exercises. Sign in to your own Canva account. Here we are on the Templates page. Click Create a design on the left. This opens the available design formats. Choose Presentations. We will use a wide page that fits a screen. The format is called Presentation, sixteen by nine. Click it to create a new design. In our browser, the editor opens in a new tab. Wait for the blank page to appear. Give your design a name you will recognize. Click the title at the top. Type Community garden day, practice, and press Enter. This name describes our own practice design. Canva saves changes automatically. Click the cloud at the top to check the save status. Make sure it says Changes saved before you leave the design. You now have a blank page with a clear name. The page itself is in the middle of the screen. On the left, you will find templates, text, elements, and uploads. Your pages are shown at the bottom. Try creating and naming a design yourself. In the next lesson, we will start from a template.
