In this lesson, you will add and position text in Canva. We will make a simple invitation to a community garden day. The heading tells people what is happening. Below it are the time, place, and what guests should bring. You can use the same structure for your own invitation. Start on a blank presentation page. Choose Text on the left, then Add a heading. Replace the sample text with Community garden day. Press Escape when you have finished typing. The text box remains selected, so you can continue working with it. Now give the heading some space. Choose Position. The Y field controls the distance from the top of the page. Select its number, enter two hundred, and press Enter. The heading moves up. You can also move a text box by dragging it, but a numeric position is useful when you want a precise layout. Choose Text again, then Add a subheading. Type the date on the first line, followed by the time and place on the next line. Press Escape. Open Position, select the Y value, enter four hundred and fifty, and press Enter. The practical details now sit together below the heading. Choose Text, then Add a text box. Write what you will do at the event and what guests should bring. Press Escape. Select the font size, enter thirty-six, and press Enter. Open Position. Select the Y value, enter seven hundred and thirty, and press Enter. Keep this explanation short so the invitation is easy to read. The invitation now has three clear levels: a heading, practical details, and a short explanation. Check the date, time, and spelling before sharing it. Practise replacing the text with your own event details. Keep a large heading and leave space between the text boxes. In the next lesson, we will work on fonts and readability.
