Build a three-scene invitation video in Canva

Make a short invitation using three of your own slides. Give each scene enough reading time and finish with a clear next action.

Written steps
  1. Step 1

Export three images from your own presentation: an invitation, a plan and a closing message. Text inside these images is not separately editable in the video; edit and export the original slide again if you need to change it.

  2. Step 2

From Create a design, open a blank Landscape Video. Open Uploads and add your images if they are not already there. Select the first image and check that the whole slide fits.

  3. Step 3

Open the timing control above the canvas, enter 8 seconds and press Enter. Allow enough time for viewers to read the complete opening.

  4. Step 4

Add the second and third images. Check the timeline order: invitation, plan, then how to join. To practise reordering, drag the third scene before the second, inspect the change, then restore the original order.

  5. Step 5

Select the second scene and set its timing to 7 seconds. Set the third scene to 7 seconds too. Check the total: 22 seconds before adding transitions.

  6. Step 6

Select Preview and watch all three scenes from beginning to end. Check the order, reading time and final action. This draft has no narration yet. Select Close to return to editing, and keep the editable presentation and exported images.

Turn three presentation slides into a short invitation video. We will use an opening, a simple plan, and a clear closing message. These are images exported from our own presentation. Their text is part of each image. To change that text, edit the original slide and export it again. Start with a blank Landscape Video from Create a design. In Uploads, upload the three images from your presentation. Our files are already here. Click the first image. Canva adds it as the first scene. Check that the complete image fits and that the important text is readable. Click the timing control above the canvas. Enter eight seconds and press Enter. The first scene now lasts eight seconds. Give viewers enough time to read the invitation. The right duration depends on the amount of text, your audience, and any narration you will add. Click the second image. It becomes the next scene. Click the third image. It becomes the closing scene. Check the thumbnails along the timeline. They should tell the story in this order: invitation, plan, and how to join. We will adjust their reading time next. Drag the third scene before the second scene. Watch the timeline: the closing message now comes before the plan. Drag the third scene before the second again to restore the original order. Reordering helps you test the story. Keep the invitation first and the next action last. Select the second scene. Click its timing control. Enter seven seconds and press Enter. Select the third scene. Open its timing control. Enter seven seconds and press Enter. The complete video now lasts twenty two seconds: eight, seven, and seven. Check the total in the bottom bar. Click Preview. Watch the whole video from the start. Check the order, reading time, and the last scene. This version has no narration yet. We will add sound in a later lesson. Let the preview run through all three scenes before returning to the editor. Click Close to return to editing. The three scenes form a simple video draft. Try it with your own three slides. Shorten dense text, allow time to read, and make the final action clear. Keep the editable presentation as well as the exported images. Check the entire video again after changing its timing.
